ΑΣΤΡΑΓΑΛΟΣ

Ο Αστράγαλος είναι ένα βότανο γνωστό από την αρχαιότητα. Αναφέρεται από τον Διοσκουρίδη και τον Θεόφραστο. Στην Ελλάδα υπάρχουν 33 είδη με γνωστότερο τον Στενόφυλλο. Η γνωστότερη φαρμακολογική ιδιότητα του Αστράγαλου είναι η ενίσχυση του ανοσοποιητικού συστήματος.

Ονομασία - Είδη

Ο αστράγαλος ο μεμβρανώδης είναι ένα βότανο γνωστό από την Αρχαιότητα. Στην Ελλάδα είναι γνωστό με τις ονομασίες: Τραγάγκαθα ή Τραγάκανθος, Κολοστούπι (Παρνασός), Παλαμονίδη (Φθιώτιδα), Κεντούκλι ή Κεντούκλα (Κρήτη), Μουλοροφάνα.

Η ονομασία Κεντούκλα είναι Βυζαντινής προελεύσεως. Κεντούκλα ονόμαζαν οι Βυζαντινοί τους χονδροειδείς μάλλινους επενδύτες τους. Η Κεντούκλα έχει κυανίζοντα φύλλα και κάτω από το πυκνό της φύλλωμα έχει πολλά αγκάθια. Στον Ψηλορείτη η Κεντούκλα έχει πλατύτερα φύλλα. Στο Λασίθι είναι στενόφυλλη. Είδος Κεντούκλας είναι και η ροβυθιά (αστράγαλος ο ερέβινθος) που δίνει σπέρματα εξαιρετικά παχυντικά για τα πρόβατα. Οι Κρητικοί όμως χρησιμοποιούσαν τη γόμμα και για θεραπευτικούς σκοπούς. Τον ιξό της, “τση Κεντούκλας το δάκρυο”, το χρησιμοποιούσαν σε έμπλαστρα και αλοιφές.

Κεντούκλα

Βοτανική Περιγραφή

Ο Αστράγαλος ανήκει στην οικογένεια των Ψυχανθών. Στην ελληνική χλωρίδα, αναφέρονται 33 είδη και μερικά από αυτά είναι ο Κεφαλληνιακός, που απαντάται σε Κεφαλληνία, Παρνασσίδα και Φθιώτιδα, ο Κρητικός ιθαγενής της Κρήτης, ο Παρνάσσιος που απαντάται σε Παρνασσίδα, Αττική και Ήπειρο. Ο Στενόφυλλος, κοινός σε όλη την Ελλάδα κυρίως όμως σε Ήπειρο, Κρήτη, Κύπρο, Αρμενία και πολλά μέρη της Ανατολής

Πολυετής, χαμηλός, προσκεφαλόμορφος θάμνος, με πολλές διακλαδώσεις. Φύλλα μήκους από 2 έως 5 εκατοστά, πτεροσχιδή με 6 ή 7 ζεύγη γραμμοειδών - λογχοειδών τριχωτών φυλλαρίων που καταλήγουν σε αγκάθι. Άνθη 10 έως 12 χιλιοστών ανά ζεύγη, στις μασχάλες των φύλλων. Πέτασος λευκορόδινος, πτερύγια και τρόπιδα σε κίτρινο ανοιχτό χρώμα. Το φυτό έχει ρίζα υπόλευκη, ινώδη που αυξάνεται πλαγίως. Το στέλεχος του είναι ινώδες πολύ κλαδωτό με φύλλα σύνθετα με πολλά φυλλάρια. Τα άνθη του είναι χωρίς μίσχο (ποδίσκο) ο δε καρπός του «φασόλι».

Το μέρος του φυτού που αξιοποιείται είναι οι ρίζες του, από φυτά ηλικίας 4 έως 7 ετών, και συλλέγονται την άνοιξη για να αποξηρανθούν στη συνέχεια.

Στενόφυλλος

Ιστορία

Βότανο γνωστό από την αρχαιότητα. Ο Αστράγαλος της Αρμενίας είναι ο Αστράγαλος του Διοσκουρίδη και του Θεόφραστου. Ο Θεόφραστος το αποκαλούσε και Τετράγκαθα. Αναφέρει χαρακτηριστικά «Έχει δε δάκρυον και ιξία εν Κρήτη και Τραγάκανθα καλουμένη. Τοιαύτην δε πρότερον ώοντο, μόνο εν Κρήτη φύεσθαι, νυν δε φανερά και εν Αχαΐδι της Πελοποννήσου και της Ασίας περί την Μηδείαν».

Ο Διοσκουρίδης αναφέρει το φυτό ως καταπραϋντικό, για τις παθήσεις του αναπνευστικού και τονωτικό για τους εξασθενισμένους οργανισμούς.

Τραγάκανθος

Φαρμακολογικές Ιδιότητες

Η κύρια φαρμακολογική ιδιότητα του Αστράγαλου είναι η ενίσχυση του ανοσοποιητικού συστήματος. Το ανοσοδιεγερτικό αποτέλεσμα του εκχυλίσματος ρίζας του Αστράγαλου οφείλεται στα κλάσματα πολυσακαχριτών που περιέχει (Πολυσακχαρίτες του Αστράγαλου - ΠΣΑ). Οι ΠΣΑ ενεργοποιούν τα λευκοκύτταρα (Β-λευκοκύτταρα) και τα μακροφάγα κύτταρα μέσω της αύξησης των διαβιβαστών κυτταροκίνησης (πρωτεΐνες μικρού μοριακού βάρους με σημαντικό ρόλο στη μεταφορά μηνυμάτων στα κύτταρα).

Οι διαβιβαστές κυτταροκίνησης ενεργοποιούν επίσης την παραγωγή ιντερφερόνης (alpha- και gamma-ιντερφερόνη).
